I purchased a jewel from mastermods. They had some shipping delays and it took a couple of weeks to get my order. Other than that, everything was fine.

The jewel is definitely high-quality.

Mastermods.com is the only site where you can find this stuff, now my opinion might be a little bias because i am a mod there, but thats it just a mod, i have recieved products from them and i have worked with them since the site opened and i will say that you will be very hard pressed to find a dissatisfide cutomer. there was a complaint as you can see here and look how well they delt with it..... http://www.mastermods.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=268

if that isn't customer support than what is. also they offer full support of their products through their forums.

i can also personally say that the controller jewels for the S controller are top quality and that they are identical in quality.

any questions that have gone unanswered please PM me and i will be glad to help
crawling_brain_things!

This site ROCKS! I have gotten all of this stuff for free just for giving them some jewel suggestions! Two Xbox controller jewels and and Xbox jewel. The xbox controller jewels look and feel exatly like the origonal, only it is a different picture. I got a Halo one and an Eyeball. If you are thinking about modding your xbox I suggest you check out this site first! I have seen alot of other modding sites that sell things like skins and such, but none of them is as good as Mastermods!

I purchased a jewel from them a while back and I noticed a bubble in it. Being the perfectionist that I am I posted a complaint on their forum and received a replacement to apply myself as well as a bonus gift for my inconvenience.

Grade "A" customer service

And a friendly atmosphere, it rocks

Very high quality stuff, and the s controller jewels are perfectly reproduced, the material is very close to the original one and the prints under the jewel is also printed on a high quality printer.

Takes a long time to ship to Canada

Ordered a light kit V1 - I followed the instructions to a 'T'. The screws were too long and pierced the top of my Xbox case. Now I have 2 pokey little bumps.

Because the screws were to long, I un-screwed them a little bit. Booted up the Xbox, and a terrible lawn mower-rattling noise was heard. The screws were so long, when they were not piercing through the top of the case, they were rattling against the DVD drive with disturbing force and noise.

I had to adjust again. Guess what happend next. One of the power leads on the flimsy circut board (this stuff is like paper) broke off. I had to bust out my soldering iron and repair this.

In the end, I got it working, but now my case is damaged. I bought a skin to cover the holes (not from mastermods), but there are still prominent markings from the piercings.

EDIT- I have been contacted by Omen from Mastermods. He apologized for this happening, and said he has never heard of it happening before. I believe him, because if it happend more there would be quite a few complaints, as quite a few members have ordered V1 light kits from mastermods.

Omen is going to send me a V2 Circut board with some proper screws and washers ... This kind of customer service is what you look for - people that listen to your problems and try to help you fix them.
MasterMods is an excellent online shop!

I ordered three v.2 kits from mastermods and two installed fine. But with one of them,i turn on my box, HD makes loud clicking noises, then it boots up an ERROR 7. HDD timeout??I know its plugged in correctly. Maybe this should be on another forum dry.gif

EDIT:my 120GB wd now does not work in any xbox.
omen808
be sure to double check all your connections....
we test every single light kit before it ships...

sometimes there is a bad LED and we have to replace them, but they are all tested on an XBOX before we package them up and ship them out....

there's no reason your hard drive should be clicking because all you are doing is tapping into the power source...

you can email me if you continue to have problems or visit our forums for more direct help...

This sucks...I would almost recommend using grounding wrist bands when installing these,(especially if its on the floor on carpet) because yes, my shit is fried. My box worked all day, but when i swapped the v1 kit for the v2 something went wrong. Turned on my box and immediately there was the fried electronics smell.

I'm wondering whats taking so long. It's going on two weeks now, and I haven't heard anything. I'm not to upset, cause I have some IC's on order somewhere else that haven't arrived yet. The thing is, I know those parts will be in this Monday. I then can finish doing my led mod, but I have no idea when the stuffs coming in from master mods. I would atleast like to know about when I could expect the goods. I tried emailing mastermods, but got no response.

Good site, slow service. I ordered almost 2 weeks ago and have yet to recieve my goods. I understand that some sites can take time, but 2 weeks is quite a bit. This made this even worse since they'd had my money for quite a while and I was starting to wonder.

Nice website, but I have to say the service; in terms of customer service replies and shipping are horrendous. I ordered a simple case badge on July 2nd via Pay Pal. I noticed that the payment was accepted that day, but I never got an email or anything regarding my order. I decided to give it a few days, but after I never heard anything, I decided to email them. No response from my first email so I PM'd omen808 and no response there. I emailed again and explained my story again. I got a reply just saying that the ordered shipped on July 11th , no apology that it had taken 9 days just to process my simple order. I am not enraged because like I said it is only a case badge, but bad customer service is another thing. I hope to one day receive my order, but I will not be ordering from them again. I can see why there is free shipping now, to make up for the lack of quality service. Sorry for the slam guys, but just my experience. No offence to anyone in direct.

Guess what? It finally shipped. All this time I was being lied to. It had never been shipped. I finally got my USPS Track & Confirm #. This is what it says on USPS.com.

Your item was accepted at 3:05 pm on July 14, 2003 in BUFFALO, NY 14226. Status is updated every evening. Please check again later.

I tried the # yesterday when I received it, but USPS could not find it in their data system because it was just shipped yesterday and it hadn't had time to process the info to their web site.

LOL, I recieved my case badge on the 17th, so mine only took 15 days! I got a very nice product and I am not upset about that, but took way too long to get here. If I would not have nagged them about my order, I know it would have taken longer. Good product, but I will never order from them again.

I have to agree, I will never order from them again. If I had known it would have taken this long, I wouldn't have wasted my time looking at their web site.

Finally got my skin, badge, and controller jewel. Almost 1 month to the day of ordering. This will be my only order from them. I'm a little dissapointed that they didnt send any written instructions on how to attach skins. The badge and jewel were self explanitory, but a nice written how to on application of the skins would have been nice. I ended up not realizing that the skin was just sandwiched between two sheets of paper. Doing so i ended up trying to cut the skin myself with an exacto and made a few mistakes. Had I known, I would have just peeled it and installed.

Their customer service is really quite bad. When we complained (me and other customers) on their forums they would just delete the topics as soon as they could. I PM'd modd several times and never got a response. I opened several tickets, never once being answered. The website makes this company look like a large internet dot com. Too bad its some guy sitting in his basement.

My suggestion: Someone form a real company for this sort of stuff. Have a wharehouse full of this stuff like amazon and get trained people to run it. Its not that difficult. Their products are quality, i give them that, too bad they treat people so badly. Not once was I offered and appology or any compensation for my wait. Not to mention the $5 shipping charge for .11lbs of items. This should be about $1 standard USPS. Bad experience.

Great website. Not only did they make me a custom skins and a custom jewel which they didn't offer on their website, they also listened to what I had to say. The shipping has been a tad bit slow lately since 2 months ago when they had a database error, and they are still trying to catch up on backorders because there are just a few workers, maybe even one, who work at Mastermods. I wouldn't be surprised if it's run out of someone's basement, but DAYM my XBox looks awesome.

A+ for Mastermods... just have patience if you order from them in the near future. I hope they have this backorder business taken care of quickly, because it's the only blemish I can think of on Mastermods.

Starting a business is a risk few take. Even fewer when it's a dotcom business. Warehous, trained people, 'stuff like amazon', that's really expensive. About shipping costs, $5 is about standard anyways. Over at Amazon, shipping is $4.32 on average for the first item.

Mastermods was once great. Now they're only mediocre. They can become great again if they just haul ass.

Yes but Amazon gets the product there quickly and efficiently. They use UPS or FedEx not USPS. To ship thru USPS its relatively cheap and slow.

I read the tutorials and I must have read it incorrectly. I just wish they would have been a little more specific. Plus the tutorial talks about soaping up the xbox skin...didnt need to just peel and stick...so that tutorial is an ALTERNATE method which isnt really practical.

Yes but under the "mastermods" forums it says "Questions, comments, praise or whatever." yet every time we posted a comment it got deleted because it was negative. What else do you think should go here other than questions about anything (even if it is shipping) and comments (even if negative).

I'm not saying their products suck, I'm just saying overall as a company they're poor. You give them and A+, I give them a C-. Only not failing by the quality of their products. I wish Modd would have contacted me at least once or offered some kind of reimbursment for my time.

Yeah... they're a great company, except for their slowness in replying to customers and shipping... isn't that what I said??

There are plenty of bad threads in their forums. They just mostly turn into useless flames and end up deleted...

soaping is an old (and in my opinion very easy and practical) method of correctly placing a decal or sticker on something. Put half a teaspoon of any dish liquid soap in a cup or 2 of water, soap up the boxes top and fit the skin on. Then just squeegee the excess soapy water out from under the skin. Thats how I used to put big decals on cars when I worked at a body shop, its really the best way.

I ordered July 12, still says preparing order...wtf is taking so long...I've sent in a defective modchip and received replacement from EASYBUY of all places since I've ordered. btw...ordered a no remorse 3-d jewel. I'll never order from here again...and if it still says preparing order on Aug 10, I'm going to complain to paypal.

Mastermods.com needs to get their/his act together. Will update/edit when goods rec'd

i ordered from them a few times...this time is a lot slower but they sold out of light kits then had some other problems, im not angry about that at all i know shi* happens.
only thing that needs a lil fixin is the customer service, but even then i do understand that because they are so behind, and im guessing have a butt load of email to sort thru..and from what ive been told its pretty much a one man show.
i dunno maybe see it from there point of veiw and take it easy

    Mastermods SUCKS DICK

I will never EVER EVER order from them, I tell Everyone I deal with (that is hundreds if not more) people,

regardless of a database crash or not, I have been waiting over 40 days for a simple jewel, I messaged, pm'd emailed, with the same response. fill out a help ticket, I did that , about 5 times. no dice. they SAY they are stopping orders untill all the back orders are processed..

thats nice words, however BULLSHIT. I have asked for my money back at least 4 times. I still dont have anything. Paypal only warranties you for 30 days... hmm go figure why u dont get your product ...

Fuck mastermods. they can suck dick and die with all the other .com's
    Jreb892
I just got my jewel in the mail today, about 40 days after I ordered it, and after I filed fruad charges with paypal. Well they sent me a case badge with my jewel, it is a skull... Mabey if it was a cooler one I would be happier, but nice try anyway.
    MettyX
no matter what the product is, to wait over a month is simply rediculous. ive received fans, modchips, etc....in 2 days, and i would expect to wait no more than 2 weeks for a custom item. they need to get their shit together before hitting the net as a "legit" business.

ADVICE...either quit your day job, or do what you have to do, to get your customers their shit in a timely matter.

mastermods has had 82 of my hard earned dollers for 6 weeks and i dont have crap to show for it. grr.gif
