I must say. In the world we live in today it's not uncommon for an individual to be skeptic when purchasing an item off the internet. Well I am no exception. After spending close to six hours reviewing, and researching online XBox mod retailers I finally decided to go with MODorDie.com (still skeptical mind you). Let me tell you my fears were put to rest (read on->). My decision was partly based on reviews gathered from this site as well as the amount of modifications that could be performed at a single location. Their prices were extremely competitive, and their service is second to none. Jay (since it's the only name I have from ModorDie.com) answered my questions quickly and thoroughly. I made a custom order for a crystal case, lights, x3 modchip. ModOrDie gave me a good deal and ordering was easy. Shipping was a different story. The day it was supposed to ship, I received an email saying it couldn't be shipped b/c shipping address didn't match billing. Nowhere did the site say this, but i should've expected as this is usually the case w/ a lot of online stores.

I received the system. plugged it in and had to figure out how to boot up to x3. tried power, that goes to ms dashboard. hit eject and boots up to x3-config-live, scroll down to reboot to dashboard and loads up newest version of Avalaunch. I really like the system, but i'm still looking for info on how to boot up to the Avalaunch w/o having to eject my cd-tray each time. When i asked modordie if it was possible they said couldn't help b/c the dashboard is illegal. so i'm still messing with eject then clock cd-tray to turn system on.

My brother-in-law also ordered one from modordie. system, hard drive, lights, x3. however, when he got the systesm, it souldn't boot up. not to regular ms dashboard or x3-config-live. Would only come up to red screen. we looked it up and found on the net it means it's a bad install. sent system back to modordie to have it fixed, to which they replied they re-attached a wire that came loose. ModorDie also replied that when we get it back it would go to the MS dashboard but anything else, like hitting eject to go to x3-config-live, is illegal. Also, that the ability to go to the avalaunch dashboard from the x3-config-live screen is illegal and they won't do it.

so now, i'm not too impressed with modordie's support. why would they offer a fully-customized system for sale/configuration for us people who aren't all that good at flashing a bios or setting up a systesm like the modded xbox? people may want to flame me after this post, but i still stick to this post that if you order a premodded system, at least set it up like you say you're going to so that it's ready for use out of the box. also, why is flashing the bios or adding in a dashboard illegal to do on one system, but they did it on mine? I don't understand it.

I placed an order with Jay a couple days ago for a custom made jewel. I have a Hawaiian themed XBOX (DVD window cutout like a hibiscus flower and the Hawaiian islands cut out on the top where the fan is. Thanks to Dremel and steady hands!). My idea was to use the "Mod Inside" look, but thought "Aloha Inside" would fit better with what I was doing. I have not received the jewel yet (I placed the order 2 days ago), but Jay reassured me that it was something they could handle. And now, after reading all the praises in this forum, I feel that I have made the best decision for my jewel.

So far, so good. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome, as well as some pics of my box.

The fact that they have not responded to 2 emails this last week is worrysome. I hope that everything is OK, and that I get my order soon. These guys are the real thing. I love the fact they use paypal so you have insurance and they have fast customer service. Also, they actually shipped parts that were more expensive to me without charging me the extra money by accident. It was their fault so they let me get the discount. I paid for my system on 12/9/05 and still to this date do not have my system in hand and now they are starting to censor their forum on their website when people complain. they also are shoddy about answering emails that are sent to them and of course they do not have a phone number to contact them at. it has been almost 4 months since i gave them about 500 bucks to cover my system and overnight shipping based on an estimated ship date that they gave of 12/31/05. I have tried to post to this site before with no success but I hope this post actually makes it on so that people can read it as they are not letting any posts like this on their forum on their web site cuz as soon as you start to complain about them they just cancel and remove the topic.
