Wow, thanks for the input guys, i was just going to order from them!
soloredd
Well....

I finally received my order smile.gif After a few conversations with the guy on IRC, I was finally able to reach somebody through the website Customer Service yesterday. The operator was nice and told me that my order was ready to ship and even gave me the tracking number before FedEx got the package. I checked periodically throughout the night (luckily I work nights) and low and behold, I tracked my package from Canada all the way to California. I was rather surprised...and imagine my happiness when the FedEx dude rang my doorbell at 1015am (which the FedEx site said it would be delivered by 1030am).

Everything works perfectly, Xbox booted up on first push of the button. I really must give ModWhiz some credit and some much deserved thanks. Although the communication is SEVERLY lacking, especially via e-mail, and the processing of orders takes a week or so, in the end it is what I paid for. I seriously thought I was not going to get my order, period. The only complaint I have...and it is minor...is that I did not receive the 2 free retail games as advertised on the website (Top Spin and Amped 2). Other than that, everything is great.

I really hope ModWhiz is able to get a stable business going and maybe get some people behind him to help out with communication and processing. The guys in IRC were helpful, but they are mostly there for technical support. If any of you are still waiting on your order, I'd recommend trying to get in touch through IRC a few times and even the Customer Support on the site. I had the best luck reaching someone from about 11AM Pacific to 3PM Pacific (again, luckily I work nights).

Order #1617

Finally got my chip today.

Ordered April 4. Modwhiz shipped it the 8th, which is pretty fast imo. FedEx fumbled up the order, but it came today. Was supposed to be here the 15th, but thats not modwhiz's fault.

Was packaged well.

I don't fault Modwhiz, but I'll never use them again due to the fact that they ONLY offer FedEx(maybe you can request different, but it was the only option on their website ordering form) I would have never chosen that route and you can see why.

"April 22nd, 2005: All orders being shipped out daily. Order with Overnight Shipping and you will receive your product guaranteed in North America within 24-hours!"

Straight fro mthe website, is this true? IF so, how much would Xecuter 3ce overnighted to US cost?

Ordered with overnight shipping on monday afternoon. My order was at my door at 8:30AM tuesday morning! It took 17 hours from when I ordered to get here and that's international!!! AMAZING! smile.gif smile.gif

This is my second order with ModWhiz. Everything went perfectly- Was one of the unfortunate people that got delayed with the Xenium S.P.Ice preoders the first time. But they honored the coupon that came with the order on my 2nd order. I used FedEx Ground shipping, so it took a bit longer. Received tracking number without asking.

Thanks ModWhiz!
Would do business with again.

Thanks for the kind words guys, we are doing our best to offer the great service we did in the past.

Hi Guys,

I ordered some chips last week. April 24th, got it 2 days later.

Good Job ModWhiz!!!

I placed my order on Monday. I contacted them tuesday about getting the order upgraded to overnight. Within about 20-30 minutes, we had the order ready to go. The package was on my desk about 10:00AM EST. Incredible customer service and very quick turn around. I will defintely purchase from them in the future.

Mod Whiz has the worst cutomer service ever. I spoke with a manager at least three times. First they confirmed cancellation of my order, yet billed/sent the product to me anyways. After I tried to get the information to return the product they did not reply for a week. When I finally was able to get a support ticket open a month ago, I still have not recieved any reply on how to return the item. They are very SHADY.

Well, I have to say I am very impressed with ModWhiz. I have purchased from him 4 times, and every time has been a good transaction. I love getting my goods at 9:30 a.m. the day after I order them. Price matched on the last 2 orders no problem. Highly recommended.
ModWhiz
Nicodemuz,

I have just sent you a PM to rectify this issue ASAP.

Please respond as we want to have this fixed for you ASAP.

Thanks.

Order #2448 - Ripped off.

Thursday afternoon (around 12 noon) I ordered my chip, and paid 18 dollars to have it overnighted. FedEx says they got the package data at 12:26 PM. For some reason, the package isn't picked up until the next day at 4:11 PM. So much for overnight.

I then notice that FedEx was not paid to deliver it Overnight. They were paid for "Priority Envelope." I look at my bill...it still says overnight, and I'm still charged 18 dollars.

I e-mail modwhiz Friday at about 8pm, seeing that my package had not being overnighted, I ask for a refund.

I got my chip this morning, 4 days after I ordered it , even after paying for overnight shipping. I have yet to hear back from modwhiz about refunding my shipping.

You can mark me down as an unhappy customer. If you can't supply a service, don't offer it.

beerchug.gif beerchug.gif Just received a shipment of a few duox 2 chips. Gotta say it was a good experience. I even decided to usse their online customer service chat to ask a question. The response was quick and correct. Thanks guys.
Oh yeah, I recieved the package about 24 hours before it should have been at my house which is always cool even if it is due to fedex and not Modwhiz beerchug.gif beerchug.gif

My experiance with Modwhiz was mixed. I'll let it be known that I am a complete noob, so I purchased the Xenium soderless kit from them. My only grip is that it didnt come with any instructions on how to install it. A cd containing a pdf file would have been nice. I realize ( after searching for it) that there are documents on the web describing the install procedure, and even a piece of paper that had these links on it would have been sufficient. It was a good thing my roomate has a modedded xbox, or I do not think I would have been able to finish the job on my own.
On the plus side, i did order the product monday and recieve it on thursday with regular ground shipping, so getting the product to my door was fast. Just some more detailed documentation ( or a document specifying where you can get the information) would have been nice.

I would shop from them again.
jwilde86
Modwhiz, maybe you can answer these questions for me. If not, anyone else.

I'm thinking of buying one for a variety of reasons. However, I know nothing about mod chips so I'm going to get a pre-mod.

I'm considering buying from the aforementioned site after doing some shopping around, but the thing is I want to know what it is that I'm getting. Below is the X Box I was going to get:

http://www.modwhiz.com/store/cart.php?

I'm not sure what a VGA Box is. Do I need it to backup my XBox games to the hard drive? Also, will I be able to install skins and all that to play on games (or any other games) using this mod chip? Anyone that knows would be of help.

Below is the site and where I place what I want on the XBox. If anyone can add anything that they think I need or can answer any of my questions (can I save my games to the hd with this modded x box, use skins/files/etc., and play pal, japanese and euro games) I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

My order # 2503 was for 2 crystal control panels and they sent me black ones. I am very bummed. Been waiting for a week for these and now I have to ship them back to Canada and will be waiting for another 2 weeks min for them to get back to me. Wish they would double check orders before they ship out. I have tried to contact them via live chat and phone with no luck. Not very happy at all.

Like other recent reviews, my experience with ModWhiz is somewhat mixed.
Order processing was relatively fast, though not as fast as some other retailers sometimes.
Their price on the Xenium SpIce I ordered was very reasonable.
Shipping took quite a while-just over a week. Part of the problem was with fedex, though, who delivered a day later than expected.
The package was well secured; between Xodus' hard plastic box and ModWhiz's careful packing all was well.
The real problem was NOT MODWHIZ'S FAULT-the solderless adapter was missing a pogo-pin.
I had to RMA the adapter, and that took too long for my liking. I emailed ModWhiz on a Thursday and didn't hear back until the following Wednesday. I tried the IRC channel, the customer service phone line, and a PM here on the X-S forums. Then I had to send it to Canada and wait for a new adapter.
They did ship the replacement a day or two before recieving it, which was nice of them. Got the replacement, and installed well.

I have bought from other sellers before with fewer issues, but the missing pogo pin was a freak occurance. I probably will try ModWhiz again before I give a truly positive or negative review.

I will say that if they had responded faster and maybe rushed the shipping on the replacement adapter I would be completely & fully satisfied, as ModWhiz seems to be a very nice fellow.

Modwhiz Review
I'm completely a n00b. I bought Xenium SP ICE from Modwhizzers. The order processed very fast; same with the shipping. Fedex is crazy. I tracked the shipment continuously and it stayed at the same place for 3 days + weekend + 1 mor day. Because of that, I actually hopped in the modwhiz's mIRC chan. People wfere very helpful. Staying in the chan made me feel more comfortable. Then my shipment suddenly arrived at my door. Very sneaky. So far so good. The shipment was 3 days earlier than the scheduled day of delivery. Again this is just trivial coz its fedex. But what suprises me is the stuff that Modwhizzers packaged. They used a neat clear hardplastic box as the container for the SP ICE package. I liked it a lot coz when I see it, I know therez nothing to worry about the package gets fuxed during the process of Fedexing.

Now the modchipping scene.
I check everything inside the l33t box and every component of the SP ICE package in there. I fuxed everything up to the xbox board but it didn't work. After few hours of observing I noticed the pins on the board were sealed so I have to use a needle to pick the paints off the pin. After I done all that. The chip SPICE-d up and everything is flashing n running.

lol tangented off
Ne ways I liked the modwhizzer's service. Its good. Its not a bluff. Its Canadian too.
If I can rate it, I would give Modwhizzer's a 5/5.

about a month ago i placed an order for a XENIUM S.P.ICE, approx. $70 USD, which was never shipped... i emailed 2-3 times with no response. then called about 4-5 times and talked to 'tony' who said he'd investigate why item was never shipped... and also email the fedex tracking number.

that was 2 wks ago i still have no modchip!!

these guys got $70 from me and never sent me a damn chip and never ever once emailed or called me back.

complete crap... i have put a STOP on my payment to them and placed fraud claim with my bank.

if the thing shows up in the mail i guess i'll send it back. still have nothing though, and i've already ordered and receievd my Xenium SPICE from modchipman.com with no problems..

hey please disregard the last post i have heard from modwhiz.com and item is on the way...

also he's refunded the shipping.. so i retract my flames!! wink.gif

I'm having an ongoing terrible experience with these guys, and it's just odd since last year I ordered xbox modchips from them and they were fine (a little slow answering the emails but otherwise no problems). So in the middle of last month I decided to order a PS2 chip from them as well as the comsoft fix they had on their site. Fedex's estimated delivery day of the chip came and passed without anyone coming, so I waited a few more days after which I called Fedex to see what was up. Turns out they hadn't received anything at all! The tracking data showed only a “Package data sent” event too. I emailed modwhiz and waited. No response for over half a week. Emailed again. Still no response. They have a "Customer Service Live Chat" option on their site but all it ever seems to read is "No operators available at the moment." After a few more days, I finally managed to chat to one of them on IRC. He claimed that the fix I had ordered was on backorder, and then said he would get the Shipping guys to contact me 'shortly'. That was last Thursday. Well, it's a week later and none of them have contacted me yet. I tried IRC again on Tuesday but no one would respond to my questions. So now it is nearly a month since I ordered (I ordered on the 14th of June) and there's no sign of my mod chip, my money, or any replies to my questions. I'm probably going to wait a few more days before I take more serious action.

Buyer Beware.

Tried to order today but when I clicked submit order I got a Javascript blank error.

Well, here's my first experience with ModWhiz:

Ordered 5 Xenium Ice Mods on late Friday afternoon. Best price i could find so i figured i'd give them a try. ..for an extra $9, i ordered FedEx overnight (total shipping $19)

I figured with the late order and the weekend upon us, i'd probably see them on Tuesday of this week. Well to my surprise, FedEx showed up Monday.

Overall this was by far the best experience i've had purchasing mods online. I have every intension of ordering from ModWhiz again the next time I need supplies. Excellent job!

My experience with modwhiz is very positive. Ive ordered 3 modchips from them on different occasions. One for me, two for friends. Everything was perfect biggrin.gif

Update on my order: I finally got it! Chip + fix so it's all good. Looks like it was indeed on backorder. Still, they could have been better responding to my earlier emails :/

What a laugh! I ordered from them on 30 July (#3172) with international FedEx 2-4 day delivery ($37 delivery). I got an automated email and my credit card was charged immediately. When I had got NOTHING by 27 August I sent an email to sales@modwhiz with a cc to shipping@modwhiz. The email was ignored. So on 30 August I sent another informing them if they did not respond I would inform my credit card provider that the charge was disputed. That email was also ignored.

So then I contacted my CC provider to dispute the charge and then sent an email to Modwhiz on 2 September informing them I had done this and the order was cancelled.

Then 24 hours later I received an automated email from modwhiz telling me my order was completed.

So after ordering and paying for 2-4 day delivery on 30 July, all I have to show for it is 2 automated emails and a stiff credit card charge. This is the worst service I have ever received from an online merchant and I have been using the internet since 1992.

BTW, I was never, ever, able to contact modwhiz on the livechat button on the website.
__Phenotype__
went to modwhiz to possibly buy a chip, and when i started messing around with prices and adding things to my cart, i was warned that the website was certified by an unkown authority.

inproper certificate configuration, site hijack?

who knows, dont want to get involved.... lost a sale.

Doesn't it seem kind of funny that, Modwhiz workers have the time to reply to feedback here. But they do not have time to answer email, answer telephone calls or have a moderator in the chat room? It does to me! Note to employees/owners of ModWhiz, it seems to me that your business would have a lot more customers if your customer support wasn't so lousy!

The internet can be a good place to do business, or a very bad place to do business, depending upon internet reputation. Company's get a good reputation by having good customer support, good feedback on message boards like this one and by delivering what they promise, when they promise.

I've read on other message boards, how customers have bought from ModWhiz and chose next day service, only for the customer to not get the item for atleast a week! I ask you, how in the world is that next day service, or getting what was promised to them from ModWhiz, this is the type of thing that is going to put ModWhiz out of business! Who wants to do business with a company like this? sleeping.gif

There are other companys out there, that will gladly bend over backwards to help there customer by replying to email, to let the customer feel at ease with there purchases, trustedmods.com, xmodd.com, consolepoint.com, modchip.ca just to name a few! I hope someone from ModWhiz reads this and takes heed or ModWhiz might just go out of business......

Don't get me wrong, I understand that some company's might be privately owned and have only a few employees, but if they cannot keep up with supply and demand, customers will look elsewhere to have there needs met, which will hurt Modwhiz in the long run. I'm not trying to put ModWhiz down, I feel I'm just stating the obvious. ModWhiz is probably trying to do the best they can, but for the love of gaming please start answering your email more frequently! cool.gif

I ordered from MODWHIZ on the 22nd of September 2005 and as of yet I have not gotten anything from them. I tried emailing them numerous times and tried calling the number (using a calling card) to no avail. blink.gif uhh.gif

Go - Save Yourselves - I am already a gonner. My experiance sucked so bad it goes beyond words.

Order number 4103 Order date 10/12

First I'd like to say that XBOX-SCENE should carefully consider who they promote as chip suppliers to thier members. When you click on the Xenium Soderless v1.6 link it takes you directly to Modwiz. I hope Xbox-scene was well paid for that little detour sign into the depths of online store Hell, becuase I consider them very culpable in this whole frustrating mess, I consider Modwiz incompetent to run an online store and xbox-scene at least criminally negligent for directing its members there and will never have a problem saying so now.

I started a rant that tracked every email and phone call of my dealings with Modwiz but that rant is now several pages long and frankly wouldn't be a very interesting read. If you want it I will email it to you.

Here is my story in short. I was a N00b to xb-mods so after many days of researching how mod my box, I began purchasing things. Got a new cddrive and hdd from someone else and ordered my chip and an s-vid cable from modwiz on the 12th of Oct. Today after five emails to Debbie in shipping asking, begging, demanding, and even a formal refund request, and after fifty phone calls and five actual phone conversations (no one answers the phone there) with Tony the manager. I was told by Tony my parts shipped only 15 minutes ago and my tracking number should be active in a couple hours. IT"S ONLY BEEN 25 DAYS. To tell you the truth I am so disgusted with Modwiz I can bearly bring myself write this flame, but I promised myself that I would so here is.

Modwiz sucks like hitting a save point just as get a hand grenade in your lap and XBox-Scene suckS for recomending them.

I ordered a Qoob SX and gamebit recently (Nov 8th), order number 4371.
I thought I'd put the whole process on the board, just so everyone can see what
the whole process is like from ordering from Modwhiz.com. I think a lot of the
time on message boards such as this one people are seeing only the negatives
of ordering from someone; people are more likely to post about their bad
experiences than their good ones.

Anyway, I ordered using my credit card last night, and can see using my online
banking site that there is a pending charge scheduled for tomorrow. More
(hopefully good) information to come...

What a horrible experience - or rather lack of experience I have had with ModWhiz. To anyone out there who is thinking of ordering from them my advice to you is RUN!!!!

I placed an order with ModWhiz on Oct 22 2005 (order #4203) for an Xbox Power Supply with 3-6 day ground shipping. My credit card was charged right away. I received a tracking number for the product on Nov 1 and the package was delivered on Nov 2. The good news stops there. My existing power supply was intermitantly shutting off and after successfully trying a friend's power supply, I decided to order a new one. I read the mixed reviews on here but decided to give them a try. So I hooked up the new power supply and plugged in the xbox. Turned it on and nothing happens...no fan, no power, no nothing. Unplugged it, tried again, no power (the fan spins momentarily but otherwise, nothing happens). So I tried putting it into my friend's working xbox, same thing - no power. So we conclude that this new power supply from ModWhiz is dead. I send them an email right away (to support@modwhiz.com) and I wait a week...no reply. So I send another email, this time to all 3 email addresses listed on the modwhiz website (sales, support, and shipping), and once again my email was ignored. That was over a week ago. Since then I have been calling them several times a day. But they never ever answer their phone. And the few times that it has sounded as though someone is picking up the phone, they quickly hang up. I don't know what else to do. I have spoken at length with 2 managers at Visa but they have informed me that because I did receive the product, they can't credit my account. So it appears as though I'm stuck paying $40 for something that was dead upon arrival. All I can say is, I will never ever order anything from ModWhiz again.
circlebar
I don't have an order # I wrote it down and can't find it, I can't contact modwhiz because their unreachable, all I have is what my bank has as a transaction id # for my charge.

Same here ordered xcuter 2.6 ce chip and gamebit on 11-09-05, my card has been charged I have received nothing, have sent numerous emails to all three addresses, called on the phone no one ever answers the phone, tried the # thats listed on your card charge and spoke to someone in support, they said someone from sales would call me back, never heard from anyone, have tried that # numerous times and no one answers that on either now, they have 66 dollars of my money and you can't talk to anyone. If I ran my business like this I wouldn't have a business to run, they are good at stealing your money, we need to contact the attorney general where their located see if we can get charges filed against them, this is out and out theft.
congogo
I have also had a major problem with ModWhiz. I ordered a replacement Power supply on 16th Nov (order #4470), got a confirmation email immediately. I paid for next day delivery but havent heard a thing since. I have emailed and tried to phone many times but not a peep from modwiz.

To all potential modwhiz customers, take your business elswhere there are plenty of good people out there who will be happy to help you.

I'm getting a little frustrated. I ordered a xenium ice solderless on 11/25. It's currently 12/1 and my order has been in the "processing" phase for all this time. I've put in an email to the shipping department, the sales department, called sales, put in a support ticket on the support desk, instant messaged modwhiz (aim and msn) and attempted to contact him on IRC, ALL of which have had no response. All I want to know is what is going on, I can wait, but not without knowing what's happening with my order.

my order was #4570.

PLEASE let me know what's up

I'm currently sitting at 3 weeks with nothing but a big credit card charge.
Order #4441
They contacted me once saying The orders ready but they want to confirm that I want a North American System in Japan(I'm Canadian in Japan)... I confirmed it and nothing.
I also got some BS about his shipping team quiting and email being broken but it sounds funny that a whole team would quit right before X-Mas. Even if the did they need to have more contact with us even if it's mass email or just a msg on the site. This is poor business. I'm giving them 2 more days then contacting my Credit Card company to start the fraud Chargeback. I really can see that this situation with all the delays and no contacting will cause many problems. If he doesn't fix something fast I think he's going to have to shut down the site becuase too many people are pissed off and posted on this nsite for him to make any sales.
I'll post if I get more updates.

Uh oh. It was via xbox-scene that I ordered from modwhiz during the Spring of this year for a few chips for the XBOX. No problems. Took a little longer than I was comfortable with but I did get my chips. Now, last week, being a previously satisfied customer... I ordered a couple more chips but this time for the PS2. Hmmm, got an instant email notification that my order was processed. Got an order number. Saw the charge immediately posted to my CC. Here I am a week later (granted, not a lot of time) and no response from the company.

A few days ago I sent an email asking for status on my order, specifically a tracking number via FedEx. Silence. Every time I call there's no answer. Anytime I go to their website there is never a live operator available. I even opened a ticket on their Help(less) Desk. Now that I'm using GAIM I see that modwhizdotcom is logged in. Sound familar? They've been logged in for over 3 hours, they're NOT idle and they're not responding to my notification. I too have a bad feeling about my transaction. grr.gif

I wish I had thought to look here BEFORE ordering again. sad.gif
